School Houses

A place to belong throughout your journey.

When tamariki | children join our kura | school, they become part of one of our four kāhui | groups: Ahi, Āngi, Wai or Whenua. Their kāhui stays with them throughout their time at Te Kura Tātahi o Waihī, creating connections between tamariki | children of different ages and learning communities.

Throughout the year, kāhui come together through activities, events and friendly competition, earning points along the way. The competition can be fierce, but underneath it is something more important: belonging, participation and being part of a team.

kāhui also create opportunities for tuakana-teina | older and younger students to learn alongside and support one another. Older tamariki | children can encourage and guide younger students, while younger children build connections with people across the kura | school.
