Ngā Haerenga | Trips & Camps

As tamariki grow, their experiences grow with them

Learning beyond the kura | school is an important part of the journey at Te Kura Tātahi o Waihī | Waihī Beach School. It begins with walks and day trips for our younger tamariki | children, giving them opportunities to explore new places, learn outside the classroom and build confidence in unfamiliar environments.

As children grow, so do the experiences. Tamariki | children build towards their first overnight stay in Year 4, followed by longer camps of up to three nights during their Te Pūaha years.

    Growing confidence through experience

Our trips and camps take tamariki | children to places including Ōtawhiwhi Marae | meeting place, Tōtara Springs and Ngāruawāhia Christian Camp, where learning, challenge and time spent together create experiences that are different from an ordinary school day.

Each step gives children opportunities to try new things, develop independence, strengthen relationships and discover what they are capable of.

    Tūhua | Mayor Island

For our Year 6 tamariki | children, the journey through the kura | school includes a special graduation experience connected to Tūhua | Mayor Island.

It is a significant final experience for our senior tamariki | children, bringing together the confidence, independence and sense of adventure they have developed as they move through the kura.
