Our Learning Journey

The journey through our Kura

From the puna | spring to the awa | river and out to the pūaha | estuary, the names of our learning communities follow the journey of water through our environment.

As the waterway grows on its journey towards the ocean, so too do our tamariki | children as they move through our kura | school, building knowledge, confidence, independence and a stronger sense of who they are as learners.

TE AWA

The river | Middle learners | Years 2 - 3

The awa | river carries water forward, growing and gathering momentum as it moves through the landscape.

Te Awa is a time of growth, curiosity and growing independence. As their knowledge and confidence develop, tamariki | children explore more deeply, make connections across their learning and begin taking greater ownership of where their learning can lead.

TE REPO

The wetlands | Middle learners | Years 3 - 4

A repo | wetland is a place where water gathers, creating a rich environment where different life can grow and thrive.

TE PŪAHA

The estuary | Senior learners | Years 5 - 6

The pūaha | estuary is where the river reaches the coast and opens into the wider ocean.

At Te Pūaha, learning continues to broaden as tamariki | children move into their senior years. They deepen their knowledge and capability across the curriculum, while having more opportunities to follow their interests, explore their curiosity, take responsibility and grow as leaders.
